That Long Road Home

That Long Road Home

Another dawn has come and gone
and yet still we are asked to carry on
some days its just too damn hard to stay strong
with them so far away from where they belong

There are the days when we are just passing time
hoping to hear their voice on the end of that long distance line
Talking of days to come and hoping to ease their minds

At times duty and life leaves a soul torn
As day after day they fight in that brown dusty land so foreign
Souls that are weary and bodies so worn
While we anxiously and patiently wait
Hoping to one day see them coming

down that long road home
