Teen Witch.com A Site Critique by Silver Spiritwolf
Before I go on with this critique, I would like to mention that I have tried to reach two of the operators of this site to no avail. All that is included on the site are their first names and pictures. The names of the owners/moderators are Marcella, Milo, and Misha.
This is a very informative site for teens that are curious about witchcraft and Wicca. Yet, it is a place for serious teen witches only. It is not a site to be used as a “teen rebellion” against parents or society on the whole or just for witchcraft. I also like the responsible attitude taken by the owner/moderators of the site as to specifying that “spell begging” and “love spell begging” is absolutely not allowed.
It begins with the basics for those who are curious and are serious about learning more. It is a site not only for teens but adults as well. I feel it is a great starting point because it covers so many wonderful topics.
Information available includes, but is not limited to the basic understanding of Wicca and Witchcraft, deities (gods and goddesses), tools of the craft, rituals, spells, history, questions and answer board, male witches included, beginners classes, chats, Christian Witches, it includes all the various cultures of witchcraft such as Druids, Celts and more, and information on fairs and festivals. I particularly like the idea of the fairs and festivals. This will give not only teens, but parents the opportunity to attend, especially if their children are under the age of 16, and really get to see what the Wicca/Pagan/Witchcraft communities are all about. These can be “hands” on events as well for the teens. Like any adult attending, they have the opportunity to meet and talk to those who can give them some direction and answer questions. Of course, I would highly recommend that the parents check out any flyers or advertisements for these events carefully and that children let their parents know what they are doing.
The Teen Witch site is in no way associated with “Teen Witch” the book by Silver Ravenwolf. Although I enjoyed researching this site, there are things, as with any site, that some parents of children under 18 may want to monitor. I strongly suggest that parents who know that their children are visiting “ANY” site, that their children know the “rules” and adhere to them. Milo, for instance, has a personal site “She Love Her Toys” that can be accessed by clicking on his photo. Although this site is not just for teen but adults as well, most who visit are not past their 20’s - Most and teens should have their parents consent when entering any “unknown” region or “realm”.
I hope that I have provided some good information for those parents who are looking for sites for their teens, but with any site regarding Wicca/Pagan/Witchcraft, there are always risks and you can not believe everything you read. Never stop asking questions.
Until next time... Brightest Blessings Be Safe, Be Aware Silver Spiritwolf
